It’s curious how the thing we most want to communicate is often the hardest to speak to.

Kieran looks to this paradox through two distinct bodies of work.

Based on or influenced by personal feelings, or opinions.

The other is less focused and tends to wander out of time, inspiring a reflective fine art practice.

Through time on the land I have come to appreciate the limitations of a single perspective, the coming together of difference that creates place.

I borrow from this to guide my work, in collaborative and community led projects but also in my own projects and curiosities.

Born in East Vancouver, I moved to Whistler, then Squamish, balancing my connection with home and the need to escape the city (or myself). I am the spawn of two lineages that originated on either end of the UK, traversing the world to find each other here on the West Coast, I am the first generation to be born and raised here. I have been gifted many incredible opportunities for staying put, not falling for the stories that “the story is always far away”, or “everything old is somewhere else,” and long ago realized that people came all over the world to be here, so why should I leave.

My work speaks to my relationship with place, an invitation to stay.
